Professor Coleen Carrigan Awarded NSF Grant

This summer, Doctor Coleen Carrigan was part of a collaborative research team that was awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).  The grant proposal, entitled "The NAVIGATE Project: A Case-Study Approach to Overcoming Barriers to Advancement for Women in STEM", uses an innovative graduate training program to help students "overcome workplace adversity caused by bias, inequity, and discrimination."  More specifically the researchers wish to test a case study method in training women graduate students how to navigate around complex gender issues and barriers in STEM disciplines.

An Assistant Professor in the Social Sciences Department, Dr. Carrigan is a feminist anthropologist who teaches courses that contribute to the Gender, Race, Culture, Science and Technology minor.  She previously won a NSF grant for her work on the LATTICE project.

Please help us congratulate Dr. Carrigan on this wonderful achievement!
