About Lauren Kolodziejski
Dr. Lauren R. Kolodziejski joined the Communication Studies faculty in 2014. Her scholarship in rhetorical criticism and rhetorical theory focuses on the intersection of science and politics in the public sphere, examining who gets to speak for issues emerging from the fields of science, technology, and medicine as well as which voices get marginalized. Her work has explored, among other things, manufactured science-based controversies (such as contemporary anti-vaccination attitudes), the rhetorical power of expert discourses, the influence of scientific appeals in public address, and representations of science in popular culture. Her work has been published in Technical Communication Quarterly. She has experience teaching a variety of communication courses, including Rhetorical Criticism, Argumentation, Communication and the Environment, Public Speaking, and First Year Writing and Rhetoric.
